Baobab “Adansonia” – native to Madagascar, mainland Africa (western, northeastern, central & southern) and Australia. There are 10 variety of trees to the Baobab family. Most commonly used for its fruit in mainland Africa is called Adansonia digitata – also known as African baobab, dead-rat-tree, and monkey-bread-tree.
Essentially the whole plant is edible in some form and is good source of many important vitamins and minerals.
Powdered baobab contains many important nutrients but is especially high in vitamin C, vitamin B6, niacin, iron and potassium.
