Grand Grains of Selim 50g Refil Pouch

This spice comes from the fruits of a shrubby tree, Xylopia aethiopica, found in Africa. Its woody pods contain little black seeds that have a musky, aromatic, flavour that reminds me of stepping into an aromatherapy session.

Commonly known as Guinea Pepper its used from making Shito (Hot Pepper Sauce) but also used for infusing into hot drinks, like tea.

The pods can be crushed or cracked open - with little difficulty - and added whole to soups or stews, then removed before serving, while the seeds can be ground and used as a spice rub on fish.
